Google Photos is set to introduce a new AI feature called Wardrobe this summer, designed to help users manage their clothing and jewelry digitally. By scanning users' Google Photos libraries, Wardrobe compiles a digital closet that organizes items into categories such as tops, bottoms, and jewelry. Users can view thumbnails of their clothing, mix and match pieces to create outfits, and share these combinations with friends or save them to a digital moodboard. A virtual try-on feature will allow users to see how selected outfits look on them, similar to features available in Google Shopping. However, the feature has limitations: it won't recognize items not captured in photos and may mistakenly include items that have been donated or discarded. The rollout will begin with Android users before extending to iOS devices later in the summer.
