Doriane Pin, the reigning champion of the F1 Academy, has made history by becoming the first woman to test a Formula 1 car in three years. The 22-year-old driver, who is part of the Mercedes driver development program, took the wheel of the 2021-spec Mercedes W12 at Silverstone’s National Circuit, completing 76 laps. Pin described the experience as 'unreal' and emphasized her gratitude for the opportunity, noting that it was an emotional day shared with her family. She acknowledged the significant differences between the F1 car and other vehicles she has driven, stating that she felt more confident with each lap. Andrew Shovlin, Mercedes’ Trackside Engineering Director, commended her professionalism and the promising nature of her career. In addition to her testing role, Pin is competing in the European Le Mans Series this year.
