Dasgupta, who won the Rashbehari seat, noted that West Bengal had become synonymous with migrant labor and a place people sought to leave. He criticized the Trinamool Congress for focusing on cultural issues rather than addressing the electorate's concerns. The BJP's triumph, with victories in 206 seats compared to the Trinamool Congress's 81 seats, marks a significant political shift, ending the latter's dominance since 2011. Dasgupta also pointed out the historical significance of his constituency, Rashbehari, as it was once associated with Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, the BJP's ideologue, and emphasized that this is the first time a saffron representative has been elected there since the 1950s.
