N Rangasamy, the chief minister of Puducherry, has successfully won the Thattanchavady constituency, leading the AINRC (All India N.R. Congress) to victory in the Union Territory's elections. As of the latest reports from the Election Commission of India, the AINRC is leading in 12 constituencies, while its ally, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is leading in four. The election results indicate that the Indian National Congress (INC) is trailing in most seats, only leading in one constituency. Rangasamy, a seasoned politician and four-time chief minister, has previously served under both the Congress and as the AINRC chief. His victory in Thattanchavady, where he has won five times since 1991, secures him a second consecutive term. He defeated E Vinayagam of the Neyam Makkal Kazhagam by 4,441 votes and former chief minister VE Vaithilingam by 7,034 votes. The AINRC contested 16 seats, while the BJP fought in 10, with the remaining seats contested by other parties. This election is viewed as a significant opportunity for the BJP to strengthen its presence in southern India, especially in the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu.
