Suvendu Adhikari was sworn in as the Chief Minister of West Bengal on Saturday at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata, a venue historically associated with Left Front rallies. To emphasize its connection to Bengal's culture, the BJP set up around 20 jhalmuri stalls and several sweet shops at the venue, highlighting the popular Bengali snack that gained attention during Modi's campaign. The BJP's efforts to integrate into Bengal's cultural fabric were further symbolized by inviting Makhanlal Sarkar, a 98-year-old senior party member and a figure from the nationalist movement. This event is significant as it is the first time a BJP government has been sworn in at this iconic location, signaling a political shift in the state.
