Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the Bengaluru Suburban Railway Project is advancing across four corridors, with land acquisition completed for two routes. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed the ongoing progress of the Bengaluru Suburban Railway Project, which encompasses four key corridors. The Baiyappanahalli–Chikkabanavara and Heelalige–Rajanukunte routes have completed land acquisition, with current work focused on station construction. The KSR Bengaluru–Devanahalli alignment has been jointly approved by the State Government and the Railways, and geotechnical surveys are complete. The Kengeri–Whitefield alignment has also received approval, with survey work set to begin soon. This suburban rail network aims to connect vital hubs such as the airport, Electronic City, Marathahalli, and Hebbal, enhancing overall connectivity in the region. The project benefits from increased railway funding, with 61 stations being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme at a cost of ₹2,160 crore (approximately $260 million USD), nine of which are already completed. Additionally, the state operates 12 pairs of Vande Bharat trains, with ongoing testing on the Bengaluru–Mangaluru route to improve coastal connectivity. The long-term vision includes expanding the railway network to 7,000 km, connecting major cities like Mumbai and Chennai.
