The Sandiganbayan Fifth Division has rescheduled the arraignment of Senator Jinggoy Estrada and former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel Bonoan to June 30. Estrada attended the hearing, while Bonoan was absent due to medical issues related to his heart and fluctuating blood pressure. Estrada's lawyer, Mikko Angela Axalan, attempted to file a motion to fix bail, but the court ruled that the arraignment must occur first. Plunder charges carry severe penalties, including life imprisonment, and bail can only be granted if the evidence against the accused is deemed weak. During the same hearing, three other co-accused engineers pleaded not guilty to the charges. The Philippine National Police (PNP) released mugshots of the accused, noting that Estrada was not wearing the standard detainee shirt due to size issues. Estrada is expected to remain in detention at the New Quezon City Jail despite his request for transfer to a different facility.
