His itinerary includes stops in Madrid, Montserrat Monastery, and the Canary Islands. Known for his criticism of anti-immigration policies, particularly those of U.S. President Donald Trump, Pope Leo aims to highlight the plight of migrants during his visit. He is expected to deliver over 20 speeches, including a historic address to the Spanish parliament, where he will advocate for dialogue to mitigate growing political and social polarization. The Spanish government, led by Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, has initiated a mass amnesty program for approximately 500,000 immigrants, contrasting sharply with the U.S. approach.
