The Haryana government has assured the supply of 1,000 cusecs of water to Delhi, as stated by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during a meeting with officials from the Delhi Jal Board (DJB). This commitment is crucial as Delhi faces significant water supply challenges, with DJB's production capacity recently dropping by around 90 million gallons per day due to reduced inflow from the Munak Canal. The water level at Wazirabad has decreased from its normal level to nearly 668 feet, further straining resources. In response to complaints about water shortages, the DJB has resolved over 8,500 out of 11,055 complaints received in the past week. Gupta emphasized the importance of conserving water and announced plans for IIT Roorkee to study the feasibility of a pipeline from Haryana to enhance long-term water management. Additionally, initiatives to construct 500 new rainwater harvesting structures and revive 1,000 old ones are underway to bolster water conservation efforts.
