Tesla, the American electric car manufacturer, announced plans to expand its charging infrastructure in India, focusing on major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. This initiative comes after the recent launch of the Model Y and the new Model YL, a six-seater SUV priced at ₹61.99 lakh (approximately $74,000 USD). Currently, Tesla operates five supercharging stations in India, strategically located near workplaces and travel routes. The company aims to replicate its global charging ecosystem, which boasts over 8,100 charging stations and 80,000 superchargers with a remarkable uptime of 99.95%. Additionally, Tesla plans to install home charging systems nationwide to support electric vehicle adoption. Since its entry into the Indian market in July last year, Tesla has opened three Experience Centers and expanded its service network across various cities.
