In a bid to enhance educational enrollment, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has intensified its 'Bata Balik Eskwela' campaign targeting around 400,000 children enrolled in the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) across the Calabarzon region, which includes Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon. The initiative aims to ensure that these children can exercise their right to education as classes are set to commence on June 8. Under the 4Ps program, children from low-income families receive educational cash assistance based on their grade level, with monthly amounts of P300 for preschool and elementary students, P500 for junior high school, and P700 for senior high school students. To further support school participation, DSWD is conducting various activities including focus group discussions and counseling sessions to address barriers to enrollment. Additionally, the agency is collaborating with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to distribute SIM cards with free mobile data to facilitate online learning for students.
