In a tragic incident in Sakinaka, Mumbai, an eight-year-old girl named Ahana Shaikh was killed when a concrete mixer truck ran over her on Friday evening. The accident occurred around 6pm while Ahana and her father, Mohammad Rafi Tajuddin Shaikh, were riding a bike near Khanna Estate. The truck, driven by Siraul Kurmuddhin Islam, suddenly swerved left, colliding with their bike and causing both to fall onto the road. According to police reports, the truck's rear tyre ran over Ahana's head, leading to her critical injuries. Rafi sustained minor injuries in the crash. Local residents intervened by apprehending the truck driver and handing him over to the police. Both victims were rushed to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar, where Ahana was pronounced dead on arrival. The police have charged Islam under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, including causing death by negligence and rash driving. He has been served a notice of appearance and was allowed to leave after the initial investigation.
