District officials, including Anjani Kumar Singh, the district magistrate, have assured that there is no overall fuel shortage, citing reserves of 2,164 kilolitres of diesel and 1,645 kilolitres of petrol, sufficient to meet demand for several days. However, the spike in demand has strained distribution, leading to temporary gaps in supply. Local protests erupted at a petrol station in Nighasan when staff hesitated to dispense fuel due to the overwhelming crowd. Authorities are conducting inspections to combat hoarding and ensure timely fuel supply, urging residents to avoid unnecessary stockpiling.
