The University of Wisconsin-Madison has announced that Michal Engelman, a recognized sociologist and demographer, will lead the newly established RISE-THRIVE Collaboration Headquarters. This HQ, located in the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery, will focus on advancing research in immunology and healthspan, which pertains to extending healthy living years. Engelman, who has significant experience in the field, will work alongside the directors of the other two RISE HQs—Kyle Cranmer for RISE-AI and Chris Kucharik for RISE-EARTH. The initiative aims to foster collaboration among researchers and support students in these critical areas. Engelman brings a wealth of knowledge from her role as director of the Wisconsin Longitudinal Study and her research on health determinants and aging. She expressed enthusiasm for the THRIVE initiative, highlighting Wisconsin's expertise in promoting health and well-being.
