Manuel Bonoan, the former Secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways in the Philippines, is currently hospitalized at the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Hospital in Camp Crame, Quezon City. He was admitted following a significant spike in his blood pressure, which reached 192/100. According to Brig. Gen. Portia Manalad, the Director of the PNP Health Service, Bonoan is receiving anti-hypertensive medication and is showing signs of improvement. Once cleared by his attending physician, he will be discharged upon request from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG). Bonoan, along with Senator Jinggoy Estrada and three others, faces arrest over graft and plunder charges related to a corruption scandal involving a flood control project. While Estrada claimed he voluntarily surrendered, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla stated he was arrested at the Senate. All accused, except Bonoan, have been committed to the New Quezon City Jail.
