Kamaraj stated that he chose to back the TVK government because the youth of Tamil Nadu have faith in its president, Vijay. Following Kamaraj's announcement, AMMK general secretary TTV Dhinakaran expelled him from the party, accusing him of betrayal and alleging that Vijay engaged in 'horse trading.' Dhinakaran had previously lodged a police complaint regarding the alleged forgery and criticized Vijay for failing to bring about the promised changes, instead claiming he has only brought 'stench' to the political environment.
