In response to the growing threat of AI-assisted cyberattacks, India's cybersecurity agency, CERT-In, has issued a new directive requiring companies to rectify critical vulnerabilities within 12 hours. This blueprint, titled "Blueprint for Reducing Exposure and Defending against AI-Assisted Vulnerabilities Exploitation in Digital Infrastructure," highlights the increasing speed at which cybercriminals utilize AI to exploit security weaknesses. Companies are urged to address internet-facing vulnerabilities within one day and internal threats within 24 hours. Furthermore, high-severity issues must be handled within five days. CERT-In emphasizes that traditional security measures are insufficient against the rapid evolution of AI-driven attacks. The agency outlines a three-phase approach for organizations, which includes immediate risk reduction, improved threat detection, and resilience testing. This proactive stance is essential for safeguarding critical digital assets, referred to as 'crown-jewel' assets, from sophisticated cyber threats.
