The Supreme Court of India has declined to change the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination, scheduled for June 21, from a physical format to a computer-based test (CBT). The court, comprising Justices P.S. Narasimha and Aravind Kumar, stated that it could not grant such a request at this stage as the National Testing Agency (NTA) is already preparing for the re-examination. The decision follows a petition that highlighted serious vulnerabilities in the traditional examination system, especially after the NEET-UG 2026 exam was cancelled due to allegations of paper leaks. The bench emphasized that the examination process needs reform and accountability, suggesting that issues raised could be examined in future hearings. The NTA had previously canceled the May 3, 2026, exam after allegations surfaced regarding leaked questions, leading to a CBI investigation and multiple arrests. The upcoming re-exam will proceed as planned, with admit cards expected to be issued by June 14.
