Unseasonal rains and severe storms have swept across Uttar Pradesh, India, resulting in a significant temperature drop in Banda district, which was named the world's hottest city on April 27 with a peak temperature of 47.6 degrees Celsius. Over the past 72 hours, Banda's maximum temperature fell by 11.2 degrees, reaching 36.4 degrees Celsius. This cooling trend has been felt statewide, with maximum temperatures decreasing by 10-12 degrees Celsius, effectively eliminating heatwave conditions. Gusty winds, with speeds exceeding 50-60 km/h, have also been reported. While a temporary rise in temperatures is anticipated from May 1 to May 3, further rainfall is expected around May 4-5, which will likely keep temperatures low. Atul Kumar Singh, a senior scientist at the Lucknow meteorological office, noted that although a slight decrease in rainfall is expected initially, increased rainfall activity will follow, bringing temperatures down once more. In Lucknow, temperatures were recorded at 31.7 degrees Celsius for the maximum and 23 degrees Celsius for the minimum.
