Prominent figures, including National Conference leader Ruhullah Mehdi and party president Farooq Abdullah, have voiced their support for Rashid's release, questioning the justice system's handling of elected representatives. Engineer Rashid has been in custody since 2019 due to charges related to a terror funding case, and although he was granted a brief parole to take his oath as an MP in July 2024, his bail requests have faced opposition from central agencies.
