A family faced a distressing incident at a Tesco car wash in Wrexham, Wales, when their Range Rover Evoque was severely damaged. While taking their 18-month-old son Otis to see a show, the couple, Andrew Fenn and Cara Burke, reported that the car wash machine unexpectedly opened a rear passenger door, causing water to spray inside the vehicle. This alarming event not only drenched Otis but also resulted in significant damage to the car, including a ripped-off roof spoiler, leading to a repair bill of £1,800. After the incident, Otis became frightened of cars, prompting concerns from his parents about his emotional well-being. Tesco initially failed to properly document the incident, and the family's insurance claim was later rejected after the car wash was deemed operational. Jaguar Land Rover, the manufacturer of the vehicle, stated that their guidelines recommend against using commercial automatic car washes due to the risk of damage. The family has since decided to avoid automatic car washes in the future, opting for manual cleaning instead.
