Clinton Public Hospital's emergency room is set to resume 24-hour operations on June 1, 2024, marking a significant change after nearly six years of limited hours. The Huron-Perth Healthcare Alliance announced this decision following a period that saw the ER operating from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. starting December 2, 2019, due to a shortage of qualified nursing staff. In January 2025, the hours were slightly extended to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Andrew Williams, president and CEO of the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance, stated that the expansion to 24/7 service reflects their dedication to providing safe and accessible care for the community. He noted that strengthened staffing and support systems have made this return possible. The community has been actively involved in discussions regarding the ER's hours, with town halls held to explore solutions since the initial reduction. Many residents expressed their surprise and relief at the announcement, fearing that the ER might not return to its previous schedule.
