The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has acknowledged the existence of vulnerabilities in its OnMark portal, which is managed by a service provider. The board has stated that these vulnerabilities have been contained and is currently working to identify any additional weaknesses. In a recent statement, CBSE emphasized that it is closely monitoring the situation and has deployed a team of cybersecurity experts from various government sectors and Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) to enhance the security of the portal. This response follows claims by ethical hacker Nisarga Adhikary, who pointed out significant security flaws allowing unauthorized access to scanned answer sheets and question papers. Adhikary criticized the government's lack of response to his previous alerts regarding critical vulnerabilities. CBSE has expressed gratitude to ethical hackers for their vigilance and has encouraged others to report any further issues to their security teams. The situation has raised concerns about the security protocols in place for the OnMark portal, which is utilized by multiple institutions.
