Her family alleges that she was kidnapped by Sukhwinder Singh, a married man from Canada, after she rejected his marriage proposal upon discovering his existing marriage. The singer, in her late 20s, was reportedly abducted at gunpoint by Sukhwinder and his associates, who then murdered her and disposed of her body in the canal. Following the incident, her brother filed a police complaint, leading to the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) for kidnapping on May 15. While Sukhwinder remains at large, authorities have arrested his father, Pritam Singh, and two accomplices, Karamjit Singh and Ravinder Singh. The family has criticized the police for their slow response in taking action after the FIR was lodged. Balbir Singh, the Station House Officer of Jamalpur Police Station, confirmed that a case has been registered against the accused.
