The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has turned down a ₹32.23 crore (approximately $3.9 million USD) proposal from the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) aimed at enhancing pollution control measures. The rejection stems from revised guidelines that restrict the use of environment compensation funds for specialized dust-control machinery and road development projects. MCG officials confirmed that the CPCB clarified these changes, leading to the proposal's rejection. Originally, the proposal included ₹11.49 crore for 21 CNG-based truck-mounted sprinkler-cum-anti-smog gun machines and plans for road construction linking key areas in Gurugram. Moving forward, MCG will focus on a revised plan that includes the establishment of 16 construction and demolition (C&D) waste collection centres and the procurement of 72 mechanical sweeping machines, which will enhance urban infrastructure and address environmental concerns. The revised proposal is currently under administrative review, with tenders expected to be issued in phases following necessary approvals.
