The second phase of polling in West Bengal, scheduled for April 29, will prioritize voter identification and security. Authorities have made over 500 arrests of anti-social elements, with 121 arrests in Purba Bardhaman and 119 in Howrah. Strict adherence to guidelines from the Election Commission (EC) is mandated, ensuring voters' identities are verified before entering polling booths. For the first time, Quick Response Teams (QRTs) will be deployed on motorbikes to swiftly reach polling locations, particularly in congested areas of Kolkata. In 'super-super sensitive' booths, an additional camera will be placed outside to monitor access. A briefing for Presiding Officers will take place on April 28 to cover essential points. Positive interactions with residents in high-rise housing societies indicate a strong willingness to vote, with polling booths set up within these complexes. Route marches by the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) are also being conducted as part of confidence-building measures.
