The series has resonated with audiences, growing from 300,000 to over 8 million followers across social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. Watson captures realistic movements by animating over family videos and pairing them with hand-painted digital backgrounds, resulting in engaging seven-second stories. While the themes are often heavy, he infuses levity and beauty into the narratives, aiming to help viewers navigate their own challenges. The local Tasmanian landscape serves as a significant source of inspiration for the artwork. In addition to his artistic endeavors, Watson is vocal about his concerns regarding the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the art community, fearing that artists may lose ownership of their creations. Despite these challenges, his connection with his audience fuels his passion for creating art that fosters a sense of community and hope. A book featuring Mr Skelly's artwork is scheduled for release in August.
