Individuals who began receiving benefits before May 1997 typically receive their payments on the third day of each month. However, since May 3 fell on a Sunday this year, those payments were issued earlier on May 1. The average monthly benefits in 2026 are $2,081.16 for retired workers, $1,634.70 for disabled workers, and $1,625.56 for survivor beneficiaries.
