The Islamabad High Court is set to hear a plea from Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, and his wife, Bushra Bibi, regarding their convictions in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case. In January 2022, an accountability court sentenced Khan, aged 73, to 14 years in prison, while Bibi received a seven-year sentence. The case, overseen by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), alleges that the trust, which operates a university near Islamabad, was used to facilitate corrupt transactions involving land worth millions of dollars from a real estate tycoon. The NAB claims that Khan's administration diverted repatriated funds from the UK to settle fines for the businessman instead of depositing them into the national treasury. Both Khan and Bibi have denied the allegations, asserting that they did not benefit financially from the trust or its operations. The hearing scheduled for April 22 had been postponed due to security measures in the Red Zone, but it is now set to proceed with a division bench led by Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar.
