The results of the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET) for 2026, announced on June 6, reveal a remarkable trend with students from state board Pre-University colleges claiming the majority of top ranks. In the engineering stream, 9 out of the top 10 rank holders are from state board colleges, contrasting sharply with previous years when Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) students dominated. Notably, 81 of the top 100 rankers in engineering are from state board institutions. Tanisha Karthik from R.V. PU College topped the engineering stream with a score of 99.44%, while Nayana Gopi from BASE PU College achieved a perfect 100% across five streams, including Veterinary Science and Nursing. The Karnataka Examination Authority reported that 2,92,782 students were eligible for various professional courses, with counselling for admissions commencing on June 10, 2026. This year, pre-round counselling will be introduced, allowing candidates to either accept their allotted seats or opt for the next round.
