Bengaluru City Police, under the direction of Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara, have arrested 16 individuals in connection with a significant drug bust, seizing narcotics worth over ₹36 crore (approximately $4.3 million USD). This operation involved collaboration between various police divisions, including the Central Crime Branch and Anti-Narcotics Wing. Parameshwara stated that the government is committed to a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and aims to make Karnataka drug-free. This year alone, Bengaluru police have confiscated drugs valued at over ₹130 crore and registered 1,959 cases related to drug offenses. The ongoing efforts include addressing the supply, production, and consumption of narcotics. The minister also highlighted the deportation of 427 individuals in 2026, including many involved in drug-related activities. Additionally, he noted improvements in crowd management for events like the IPL following a tragic incident in 2025.
