On Sunday, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary launched 84 development projects worth ₹203 crore in Bhagalpur district, emphasizing the urgent restoration of the Vikramshila Setu, which partially collapsed on May 4. Choudhary directed officials to ensure that vehicular movement resumes on the bridge by November 30, 2023, and announced that no toll or parking fees would be collected from vehicles until normal traffic is restored. A Bailey bridge has been constructed as part of the restoration efforts, which will include a fresh technical assessment of the bridge's superstructure. In addition to the bridge project, Choudhary inaugurated 69 projects and laid the foundation for 15 others. He also reviewed preparations for the Shravani Mela 2026, prioritizing safety for attendees and instructing adequate police and medical personnel deployment along the pilgrimage route.
