K.T. Rama Rao (Working President of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi) announced that the Special Summary Revision (SIR) of voter lists is a routine exercise aimed at refining the electoral rolls by removing duplicates and updating records. This revision will culminate in the publication of the final voter list on October 1, which will be essential for all forthcoming elections. Rao clarified that SIR involves adding new voters, removing deceased individuals, and transferring votes as necessary. He highlighted that there have been 13 such revisions since India’s first general elections in 1951-52. The last comprehensive revision was conducted in 2002, prior to the establishment of Telangana. Rao urged citizens and party members to engage actively in the verification process to ensure the accuracy of the voter rolls. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will facilitate this by comparing the current list with the previous one, allowing one month for corrections before finalizing the list.
