The Delhi High Court has instructed Priya Kapur, the widow of late businessman Sunjay Kapur, to preserve his assets during an ongoing inheritance dispute. This decision follows allegations from his children, Samaira and Kiaan, with actor Karishma Kapoor, who claim the will favoring Priya was created under suspicious circumstances. The court noted that the genuineness of the will would be assessed through a trial, which could take time. Until then, the court has restricted Priya from alienating or transferring equity shares in three Indian companies, withdrawing funds from bank accounts, and dealing with cryptocurrency assets. The children argue that the will was presented without prior notice and contains numerous errors, suggesting it may have been forged. The Supreme Court has also encouraged mediation to resolve the inheritance conflict, which has implications for the estate of the Sona Group, where Sunjay was chairperson before his death from cardiac arrest in London on June 12, 2022.
