On May 3, 2023, the Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully rescued two children who were stranded overnight atop a water tank in Siddharthnagar district, Uttar Pradesh, India. The incident occurred when the ladder leading to the tank was damaged, leaving the children unable to descend. Following a request from state government authorities, an IAF Mi-17 V5 helicopter from the Central Air Command was dispatched for the rescue. District Magistrate Shivsharanappa praised the coordination between the IAF and state officials, highlighting the effective communication throughout the planning phase.
