BJP MP Govind Karjol has accused Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of raising issues such as the hijab and janivara to divert public attention from his political vulnerabilities. Speaking in Kalaburagi, Karjol stated that these practices are longstanding in Indian culture and that school uniforms are sufficient to ensure equality among students. He criticized Siddaramaiah for resorting to such tactics whenever his political position is threatened, mentioning that caste surveys ordered by the CM have not yielded results. Furthermore, Karjol expressed discontent over the Congress government's handling of internal reservations for the Madiga community, which he claims has not received the 6% reservation recommended by both the Nagamohan Das and Sadashiva Commissions. Instead, they were allocated only 5.25%. He warned of potential agitation if their demands are not met and criticized the government's reservation order for limiting opportunities for Madiga youth to lower-level jobs. Karjol emphasized the historical significance of reservation policies, referencing B.R. Ambedkar and Babu Jagjivan Ram's contributions to these initiatives.
