The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially welcomed Raghav Chadha and six other former Members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) into its Parliamentary Party, increasing its strength in the Rajya Sabha by seven. This transition follows a significant departure from the AAP, led by Arvind Kejriwal, which the party has described as a betrayal. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju announced the merger on social media, emphasizing the MPs' adherence to parliamentary decorum and welcoming them to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. Rijiju also took the opportunity to criticize the opposition alliance, referring to it as 'Tukde Tukde', a term frequently used by BJP leaders to disparage the coalition. The AAP has responded by stating its intention to seek the disqualification of the MPs, claiming that Chadha lacked the necessary support from the party. The political landscape remains complicated, with the Congress, Trinamool Congress, and AAP not forming a cohesive alliance at the state level during the ongoing Bengal elections, despite previous collaborations at the national level.
