Vijay, leader of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), is set to become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu after his party secured the necessary support from allies, including Congress, CPI, CPI(M), Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML). Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) spokesperson A Sarvanan highlighted the pivotal role of MK Stalin in facilitating this coalition, stating that he aimed to prevent a constitutional crisis. Stalin, however, criticized Congress for abandoning the DMK-led alliance, labeling their departure as a betrayal. He emphasized that the election results produced a fractured mandate, with no single party achieving a majority. Despite the DMK not forming the government, Stalin assured that they would not obstruct the new administration and would respect the decisions of their allied parties. The TVK emerged as the largest party with 108 seats but required support to surpass the 118-seat majority threshold in the 234-member assembly. With the coalition's backing, TVK's tally reached 121 MLAs, ensuring a stable government formation.
