Vijay, the president of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu after a series of meetings and coalition negotiations. His party emerged as the leading force in the recent assembly elections, winning 108 seats but initially falling short of the 118 required for a majority. Over the course of five days, Vijay engaged in discussions with various political allies, including the Congress party, the Communist Party of India (CPI), and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M), ultimately securing support from 120 MLAs. After presenting the necessary letters of support to Governor Rajendra Arlekar, Vijay was officially appointed as Chief Minister. His oath-taking ceremony is set for 10 am on Sunday at Nehru Stadium in Chennai, marking a significant political shift as this government is the first to break the dominance of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in nearly 60 years.
