In a heartwarming ceremony, four educators were recognized as finalists for the Contra Costa County Teacher of the Year award. The finalists are Evette Evers-Threatt from Pittsburg Unified School District, Julee Henderson from Acalanes Union High School District, Stephanie Sado from Orinda Union School District, and Rebecca St. Michel from Brentwood Union School District. County Superintendent Lynn Mackey led the surprise announcements, which were met with cheers and applause from students, parents, and colleagues. The finalists were selected from 22 nominees and will now advance to compete for the California Teacher of the Year title, highlighting their impact, leadership, and innovation in education. Last year's county winners also progressed to the state level, setting a precedent for this year's finalists.
