The Delhi Police have successfully dismantled an interstate cyber fraud racket, arresting five individuals from Udham Singh Nagar district, Uttarakhand. The accused were part of a syndicate that provided mule bank accounts to cyber criminals, facilitating online investment scams and task-based frauds. The investigation was prompted by a complaint from Shashi Ranjan Bharti, who lost ₹1,01,869 ($1,225 USD) in an online investment scheme after being lured by fraudsters posing as digital marketing professionals. The police traced ₹50,000 ($600 USD) of the cheated amount to one of the accused, Raj Bachhar, and through further investigation, identified the roles of Raj and Sameer Bachhar as mule account holders. The group targeted vulnerable individuals, persuading them to open bank accounts in exchange for monetary incentives, which were then used to receive funds from victims of various scams. Authorities have recovered five mobile phones linked to the crimes and are continuing efforts to identify additional members of the network.
