Framework has upgraded its Laptop 16 with several refinements aimed at enhancing both its appearance and functionality. The introduction of the Ryzen AI 5 340 CPU option, which sits below the eight-core Ryzen AI 7 350, brings the starting price down to $1,599 for pre-built systems and $1,249 for the DIY Edition. Along with this new processor, Framework has added a Translucent Smoke Gray Bezel option, expanding the aesthetic choices for users. The most notable change is the shift from a modular keyboard and trackpad design to a one-piece configuration, which simplifies assembly and improves the laptop's overall look. This change addresses previous complaints about the modular design appearing unfinished, as it required multiple pieces to create a complete top case. The new design is particularly beneficial for users who prefer a centered keyboard without a number pad, resulting in a cleaner and more cohesive appearance.
