The Odisha Vigilance Directorate conducted extensive raids on properties linked to Baikuntha Nath Behera, an assistant executive engineer with the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), unearthing assets valued in crores. The raids, which took place across various locations including Bhubaneswar, Jajpur, and Baripada, led to the seizure of ₹2 crore in cash, five multi-storey buildings, 14 high-value plots, and 341 grams of gold jewellery. Behera, who began his career in 1999 with a modest salary of ₹6,000, has seen significant promotions, culminating in his current role as assistant executive engineer, a position he assumed in February of this year. The Vigilance department is currently assessing the value of the seized properties and has identified multiple lockers associated with Behera and his wife, from which a substantial amount of cash was recovered. This investigation highlights ongoing efforts to combat corruption within government ranks in Odisha.
