Starting Monday, the Andhra Pradesh government will implement the APAIMS app as a mandatory platform for the sale of urea and DAP fertilizers across 24 districts. This initiative, announced by Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon, the state director of agriculture, aims to ensure that fertilizers reach legitimate farmers while preventing diversion and misuse. Notably, Krishna and Kakinada districts are excluded from this rollout because they are part of a pilot project for a central government fertilizer app. Under the new system, eligible farmers will receive their fertilizer allocations through the APAIMS platform and can select their preferred retail dealer. All retailers will be linked to Rythu Seva Kendras (RSKs) to ensure efficient distribution. The government emphasizes that this initiative is crucial, especially given the rising global fertilizer and fuel prices due to ongoing conflicts in West Asia. The agriculture department will also conduct awareness campaigns to inform farmers and dealers about the new system, while strict monitoring will be in place to prevent violations, with legal consequences for those found facilitating misuse.
