Mayawati called for Yadav to take immediate action, including an apology to the Brahmin community, to mitigate the growing tensions. The remarks made by Bhati, which included an offensive comparison of Brahmins to courtesans, have resulted in legal action against him under Section 196(1) of the Indian Penal Code, which addresses promoting enmity between groups based on religion. Mayawati highlighted that this incident reflects the SP's ongoing casteist politics, which she argues has not changed over time. She asserted that the BSP is committed to respecting all communities, including Brahmins, and ensuring their representation in governance, contrasting this with the SP's approach.
