On Friday, Chief Minister M K Stalin of Tamil Nadu reviewed the voting patterns in Chennai following the 2026 assembly elections. He expressed concern over the marginally lower voter turnout in the city compared to other regions and discussed the effectiveness of booth agents on polling day. Stalin's discussions with state ministers P K Sekarbabu and Ma Subramanian also focused on the influence of actor Vijay's political party, the Tamil Nadu Vikas Katchi (TVK), which is believed to have impacted the traditional voter bases of the AIADMK and BJP, and possibly even the DMK in some constituencies. Despite concerns about TVK's potential influence, DMK spokesperson T K S Elangovan dismissed its impact as insignificant. Coordination between DMK and its allies was also a topic of discussion, as Stalin sought to ensure that their electoral machinery functioned effectively. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin was reported to be on a private trip abroad, with CM Stalin expected to retreat to Kodaikanal soon.
