Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri attended the degree distribution programme for international students at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, encouraging graduates to apply their skills to address the challenges faced by the Global South in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. The ceremony celebrated the achievements of students completing various programmes, including MTech, MS, and PhD. Misri highlighted the importance of innovation and advanced skills in solving pressing global issues, particularly in developing nations. The event underscored India's rising status as a global education destination, fostering academic cooperation and diplomatic ties with partner countries. IIT Madras has been expanding opportunities for international students through its Office of Global Engagement (OGE), offering scholarships and support mechanisms. The institute's efforts have led to a steady increase in international enrolment, particularly from Global South countries, reflecting its commitment to global capacity building in science, technology, and innovation.
