The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has reannounced a recall for 429,000 Casely Power Banks, model number 'E33A,' due to serious fire hazards. Initially announced in April 2025, the recall follows reports of 51 overheating incidents, including a tragic case where a 75-year-old woman from New Jersey died after her power bank exploded while charging her phone on her lap. Additionally, another incident involved a 47-year-old woman who sustained first-degree burns when her power bank caught fire on an airplane in February. The power banks, sold online for $30 to $70, pose a significant risk, prompting the CPSC to urge consumers to stop using them immediately and contact Casely for a free replacement. Furthermore, consumers are advised not to dispose of the power banks in regular trash due to fire risks, but rather to consult local hazardous waste collection centers for safe disposal methods.
