C Joseph Vijay, popularly known as 'Thalapathy', took his oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu at Chennai's Nehru Stadium, captivating the audience not only with his political ascendance but also with his fashion choice—a well-tailored black suit paired with a white shirt. This choice marks a departure from the traditional white shirt-and-dhoti attire that has long been the norm among Tamil Nadu's political figures. The black suit is thought to resonate with the legacy of Periyar E. V. Ramasamy and the Dravidian movement, which often employs black as a symbol of self-respect and rebellion against traditional authority. In his inaugural address, Vijay made a bold declaration of his control, stating, “There will be no power center other than me,” assuring the public of his independent decision-making. He expressed gratitude to his allies for their support in achieving the 'magic number' of 118 seats to form the government, and he included a nod to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, referring to him as his 'brother'.
