An Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (ANRP) workshop was conducted on Sunday at Motilal Nehru Medical College in Prayagraj, focusing on equipping healthcare professionals with essential skills to save newborn lives. Organized collaboratively by the Department of Pediatrics at MLN Medical College, the Prayagraj branch of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), the National IAP, and the National Neonatology Forum, the workshop aimed to train physicians and healthcare workers in life-saving medical assistance for newborns immediately after birth. Dr. Manish Maurya, the course coordinator and head of the pediatrics department, reported that 36 participants received training, with a facilitator assigned for every six trainees to ensure quality instruction. The training covered critical techniques such as bag-mask ventilation, respiratory support, and neonatal cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Dr. A.K. Verma, principal of MLN Medical College, highlighted the Indian Neonatal Action Plan's goal of reducing neonatal mortality to fewer than 10 deaths per 1,000 live births. Dr. Neelam Singh from SRN Hospital stressed the significance of the first few minutes post-birth, known as the 'Golden Minutes,' for a newborn's survival and health, noting that timely medical assistance can prevent severe complications and save lives.
